The Medal for Distinction in the Protection of Public Order was established by the Soviet Union to recognize members of law enforcement agencies, security services, and civilians who distinguished themselves through exemplary service in maintaining public order.
The award could be granted to police personnel as well as civilians who demonstrated courage, initiative, or exceptional dedication while assisting authorities in crime prevention, apprehending offenders, protecting public property, or safeguarding public safety.
According to the classification system commonly used by collectors, this example is identified as Variant 3 with 15 ribbons on the shield of the reverse design.
