Soviet Union USSR. Medal for the 60th Anniversary of the Armed Forces of the USSR, 1918–1978
The Commemorative Medal for the 60th Anniversary of the Armed Forces of the USSR (Russian: Юбилейная медаль «60 лет Вооружённых Сил СССР») was instituted on 28 January 1978 to commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of the founding of the Soviet Armed Forces.
It was awarded to marshals, generals, admirals, officers, warrant officers, NCOs, soldiers and sailors who were serving on 23 February 1978 in the Soviet Army, the Soviet Navy, the troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), and the troops and agencies of the State Security Committee (KGB). It was also awarded to eligible veterans in accordance with the official regulations.
