Soviet Union USSR. Medal for the Victory over Japan, Variant 1
The Medal for the Victory over Japan was a decoration established by the Soviet Union to recognize military personnel who participated in the campaign against the Japanese Empire at the end of World War II, especially during the Soviet–Japanese War of 1945 in the Far Eastern Front.
It was awarded to Red Army soldiers, Navy personnel, and other forces who contributed to the rapid defeat of Japanese troops in Manchuria, Korea, Sakhalin, and the Kuril Islands.
This example is a Variant 1, issued between 1945 and 1947.
