Soviet Union USSR. 50th Anniversary of the Armed Forces Medal with Award Certificate, 1968
The 50th Anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Soviet Union Medal was established in 1968 to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the armed forces of the Soviet Union.
The medal was awarded to marshals, generals, admirals, officers, as well as career non-commissioned officers, sergeants, soldiers, and sailors who, on 23 February 1968, were serving in the Soviet Army, the Navy, the troops of the Ministry of Public Order of the USSR, or the units and agencies of the KGB under the Council of Ministers of the USSR.
The decoration formed part of a series of commemorative medals intended to recognize long and faithful service within the Soviet armed forces.
