The Order of Friendship of Peoples was established in 1972 by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the USSR, to award great merits in efforts to strengthen friendship and fraternal cooperation between socialist countries, for significant contribution to the economic, social, political and cultural development of the USSR and republics of the Union.
The medal is made of silver and the enamels are in good condition.
