Soviet Union USSR. Red Army Soldier’s Service Book, 1924
This service book or military passport, known as the Model 1924, was one of the earliest military identification documents established in the Soviet Union and is among the rarest Soviet military documents encountered today.
The document served as both an official identification card and a service record for military personnel. It contains personal information about the soldier, including his name, place of birth, and enlistment details. It also records issued equipment such as the rifle, bayonet, and other standard military items.
This example was issued in 1924 to a soldier enlisted that same year, during the formative years of the Red Army.
The cover bears the inscription:
«ПРОЛЕТАРИН ВСЕХ СТРАН СОЕДИНЯЙТЕСЬ
СССР
СЛУЖЕБНАЯ КНИЖКА КРАСНОАРМЕЙЦА»
Translated as:
“PROLETARIANS OF ALL COUNTRIES, UNITE!
USSR
RED ARMY SOLDIER’S SERVICE BOOK”
Original Soviet document from the interwar period.
