Spain. Assignment badge for the Province of Ifni.
The Ifni Assignment Badge (Distintivo de Destino de Ifni) was a Spanish military insignia awarded to personnel assigned to the Spanish province of Ifni, which existed until 1969. This badge, shaped like a camel, was often enameled in blue and featured a camel over a crescent moon with the inscription “IFNI.” It was issued to troops stationed in the territory.
There was also a separate badge for time served in the province, created by Ministerial Order on June 14, 1958, which retained the same symbolism but had a different design.
Design: A badge in the shape of a camel.
Symbolism: Featured a camel standing on a crescent moon with the inscription “IFNI.”
Purpose: Awarded to Spanish troops assigned to the province of Ifni, a Spanish colony in northwest Africa until it was ceded to Morocco in 1969.
