Spain. Insignia of the 3rd Indigenous Regular Forces Group of Ceuta, Second Spanish Republic
Collar insignia of the 3rd Indigenous Regular Forces Group of Ceuta, consisting of a crescent moon with the number 3 in the centre, two crossed rifles and a mural crown at the top, a characteristic element of military symbolism during the Second Spanish Republic. The group was part of the Indigenous Regular Forces established within the Spanish Protectorate in Morocco and was already an established unit of the Spanish Army before the Republic.
At the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, the 3rd Regular Forces Group of Ceuta joined the rebel side and took part in the initial operations of the war. The presence of the Republican mural crown indicates that this insignia dates from the Second Republic, approximately 1931–1936.
