Spain. Miniature of the Plaque of the Royal and Military Order of Saint Hermenegild
Miniature of the Plaque of the Royal and Military Order of Saint Hermenegild, one of the categories of this Spanish military order, established to reward constancy in military service and exemplary conduct among members of the Armed Forces. The Order was instituted in 1814 and, throughout its history, the Plaque has been one of its principal categories. Miniatures reproduce the corresponding insignia on a smaller scale for wear as part of reduced-size groups of decorations.
