Spain. Mountain Riflemen’s Buckle. Reign of Alfonso XIII.
This buckle depicts a Tizona-type sword crossed with an arquebus, both intertwined with an oak branch and surmounted by a royal crown.
The first Mountain Riflemen Battalions in Spain were officially created on May 31, 1899, and reorganized on June 30, 1911, inspired by French and Italian Alpine troops.
This buckle was used until 1931.
