This band was introduced in 1977 as part of a redesign of the Guardia Urbana’s image. The design was inspired by the British style (similar to the «Sillitoe Tartan» used by UK police) and aimed to modernize the uniform and make the municipal police of Barcelona more visible and recognizable.
