Spain. Spanish Model 1860 Engineer Sword, Republicanized 1926 Variant, 1931–1939
This sword is the Model 1860 Engineer Officer’s pattern, manufactured in the early 20th century with the features of the Puerto Seguro sword-sabre adopted under the 1926 regulations: checkered wooden grips and a straight blade.
On the guard appears the emblem of the Engineer Corps, a castle, with a modified crown. Originally a royal crown (closed crown), it was altered into a republican crown (mural crown) during the 1930s, in the period of the Second Spanish Republic and the Spanish Civil War.
The blade bears the marking of the Fábrica de Artillería de Toledo.
