Third Reich Germany. 1939 Iron Cross 1st Class Repeat Clasp
A 1939 repeat clasp for the 1914 Iron Cross, 1st Class (Wiederholungsspange 1939 zum Eisernen Kreuz 1. Klasse 1914), intended for recipients who already held this decoration from the First World War and earned it again during the Second World War. It was attached to the original 1914 cross to distinguish the renewed award.
It features the characteristic design of this clasp, with the national eagle and swastika surrounded by an oak-leaf wreath and the date 1939.
Buntmetall.
Given the characteristics of the eagle and the rear attachments, it was almost certainly manufactured by B. H. Mayer in Tombak.
