Third Reich Germany. 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class Repeat Clasp
A 1939 repeat clasp or spange for the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class (Wiederholungsspange 1939 zum Eisernen Kreuz 2. Klasse 1914) awarded to recipients who had already received this decoration during the First World War and earned it again during the Second World War. The clasp identified the renewed award while allowing the original 1914 cross to continue being worn.
It features the characteristic repeat-clasp design, with the national eagle and swastika at the centre, surrounded by an oak-leaf wreath and the date 1939.
