Third Reich Germany. Medal bar with the Iron Cross, Honour Cross and Sudetenland Medal, with case
Medal bar belonging to a First World War veteran who also received the Sudetenland Medal, commemorating the incorporation of the Sudetenland into Germany in October 1938. It combines three decorations: the 1914 Iron Cross, 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse), the Honour Cross of the World War 1914-1918 for combatants (Ehrenkreuz des Weltkriegs 1914/1918), and the 1 October 1938 Commemorative Medal, commonly known as the Sudetenland Medal (Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938).
The medal bar and its original case were manufactured by Stempel Reich, a firm based in Breslau. The combination of awards represents a military and political chronology spanning the First World War and Germany’s territorial annexations in the late 1930s.
