Soviet Union USSR. Medal for the 20th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, 1945–1965
The Commemorative Medal for the 20th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 (Russian: Юбилейная медаль «Двадцать лет Победы в Великой Отечественной войне 1941–1945 гг.») was instituted on 7 May 1965 to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany.
It was awarded to military personnel and civilians who took part in the Great Patriotic War, as well as partisans, members of the underground resistance, and other individuals who had previously received the Medal for the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945 (Russian: Медаль «За победу над Германией в Великой Отечественной войне 1941–1945 гг.») or the Medal for the Victory over Japan (Russian: Медаль «За победу над Японией»).
Unlike the commemorative medals issued in 1975 and 1985, this edition did not include a separate version for home-front workers, being awarded only to war veterans and other recipients meeting the official eligibility criteria.
