Soviet Union USSR. Medal for the Development of Virgin Lands with Award Certificate, 1957
The Medal for the Development of Virgin Lands was established by the Soviet Union to recognize individuals who contributed to the large-scale agricultural development campaign launched during the 1950s to cultivate previously unused and fallow lands.
The award was presented to collective farm workers (kolkhozes), state farm employees (sovkhozes), machinery and tractor station personnel, construction workers, and other individuals involved in the development of agricultural infrastructure. It could also be awarded to members of the Communist Party, local soviets, trade unions, and the Komsomol who made significant contributions to the campaign.
The program focused primarily on the regions of Kazakhstan, Siberia, the Urals, the Volga area, and the North Caucasus, with the goal of increasing grain production and strengthening Soviet agricultural output.
This example is accompanied by its original award certificate (grant booklet), dated 1957, officially documenting the presentation of the medal to its recipient.
Original Soviet decoration from the post-war period.
