United Kingdom. British Pattern 1913 Bayonet for the Pattern 1914 Rifle, Made by Remington (USA)
British Pattern 1913 (P1913) bayonet for the .303 Pattern 1914 (P14) rifle, manufactured in the United States by Remington Arms Co. for the British Government during the First World War. The bayonet was originally designed for the experimental Pattern 1913 rifle, but when this rifle was adapted to fire the .303 British cartridge and became the Pattern 1914, the same bayonet design was retained. This example bears the “1913” pattern designation, the “2 16” date mark indicating February 1916, and “REMINGTON”, identifying the manufacturer. It also retains the Broad Arrow, the British Government acceptance and property mark, together with an “X” corresponding to the blade bend test mark.
Overall length: 57.5 cm. Length without scabbard: 54.1 cm. Blade length: 41.6 cm.
