United Kingdom. British Pattern 1913 Bayonet for the Pattern 1914 Rifle, Manufactured by Remington (USA) in 1916
British Pattern 1913 (P1913) bayonet for the .303 Pattern 1914 (P14) rifle, manufactured in the United States by Remington Arms Co. for the British Government during the First World War. The design of this bayonet was originally developed for the experimental Pattern 1913 rifle, but when the rifle was adapted to fire the .303 British cartridge and became the Pattern 1914, the same bayonet was retained. This example bears the “1913” pattern designation, the “11 16” date mark indicating November 1916, and “REMINGTON”, identifying the manufacturer. It also retains the Broad Arrow, the British Government acceptance and property mark.
Overall length: 58.4 cm. Length without scabbard: 54.7 cm. Blade length: 42.6 cm.
