United States. CVC T56-6 Tank Crew Helmet with Textured Finish, Vietnam War
The CVC T56-6 (Combat Vehicle Crewman) helmet was designed as protective headgear for armored vehicle crews of the United States Army. It was widely used during the Vietnam War by the crews of tanks, armored personnel carriers, and other armored fighting vehicles.
This model features a laminated fiberglass shell covered in olive drab fabric and an internal suspension and padding system designed to protect crew members from impacts inside armored vehicles. It was originally equipped with an integrated headset and microphone for intercom communications. This example retains only the internal earphones.
The helmet features the characteristic textured olive green paint finish found on some examples of this model.
