United States of America. MK-4 or Mark 4 Phone Talker fibre helmet.
In 1981, the Mark 4 helmet was introduced as a modernised version of the earlier Mark II, which had proved particularly vulnerable to corrosion due to its steel construction. The Mark 4 was manufactured by Gentex and featured a Kevlar construction, approximately two years before the PASGT helmet, while otherwise retaining a similar purpose and design to the Mark II. An improved variant designed by Gentex was tested in 1985, but was ultimately not adopted.
This example is painted red.
