Departmental badge of the USSR, established in 1970 by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs, N. Shchelokov.
Awarded for outstanding performance in fire prevention and suppression and for continuous improvement of professional skills.
The award originated from the «Best Firefighter» badge, which was approved in 1936.
From 1944 to 1970, a similar badge, «Excellent Firefighter,» also existed, which was abolished in 1970 and replaced by the «Excellent Firefighter» badge.
