Badge commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Frunze Higher Naval Military School, later incorporated into what is now the Saint Petersburg Naval Institute.
It bears the dates “1947–1977” and the abbreviation “ВВМОЛКУ”, referring to the Russian name of the Higher Naval Military School decorated with the Order of Lenin and the Red Banner. The inscription “ФРУНЗЕ” refers to Mikhail Frunze, the prominent Bolshevik military commander after whom the institution was named.
The design incorporates the Soviet Navy ensign, an anchor and a chain as traditional naval symbols.
