The medal was established by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on February 22, 1948, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Soviet Army and Navy. The statutes of the medal were amended by Resolution of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on February 5, 1951.
The Jubilee Medal “30 Years of the Soviet Army and Navy” was awarded to all generals, admirals, officers, non-commissioned officers, sergeants, soldiers, and sailors who served in the Armed Forces of the USSR, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of State Security on February 23, 1948.
