The medal «Участнику национально-революционной войны в Испании 1936-1939 гг» (Participant in the National-Revolutionary War in Spain 1936-1939) was created to commemorate the contribution of the members of the International Brigades who fought on the Republican side during the Spanish Civil War. This medal was issued in 1989 to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of the conflict. Made of aluminum with a brass clasp, the medal was awarded to veterans of the International Brigades, which were formed by volunteers from various countries, including the Soviet Union.
