Soviet Navy badge associated with the nuclear-powered submarine known as “Puma” (Пума), belonging to Project 971 Shchuka-B, designated by NATO as the Akula class.
The centre features a gilt relief of a roaring big cat’s head, referring to the submarine’s name. Above it is the Soviet Navy ensign, with the red star and hammer and sickle.
Below the feline is an enamelled representation of the globe, while the entire design rests upon a large gilt anchor, a traditional naval symbol.
