USSR. SOVIET UNION. Medal commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Red Army 1918-1958, with award document 1958.
The medal was established by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on December 18, 1957, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the USSR.
The Jubilee Medal “40 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR” is awarded to marshals, generals, admirals, officers, as well as sergeants major, sergeants, soldiers, and sailors with long service who were part of the ranks of the Soviet Army, Navy, troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and KGB troops and organs under the Council of Ministers of the USSR on February 23, 1958.
The presentation of the commemorative medal is carried out, on behalf of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, by the commanders of military units, formations, and heads of institutions and establishments.
