The badge features on the obverse the profile of Hồ Chí Minh, revolutionary leader and President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, accompanied by the famous inscription “KHÔNG CÓ GÌ QUÝ HƠN ĐỘC LẬP, TỰ DO”, translated as “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom.” The phrase formed part of Hồ Chí Minh’s appeal of 17 July 1966, issued during the Vietnam War, and subsequently became one of the best-known slogans associated with his political legacy.
