Vietnam. Commemorative Medal of the Veterans of the Three Historic Campaigns of Vietnam, 1954–1972–1975
Commemorative medal associated with the Đoàn Cựu chiến binh truyền thống 3 chiến dịch lịch sử Việt Nam, an organization bringing together former servicemen and participants in three military episodes regarded as particularly significant in Vietnamese military history: the Battle of Điện Biên Phủ in 1954, the campaign known in Vietnam as “Điện Biên Phủ trên không” in 1972, and the Ho Chi Minh Campaign of 1975. The organization originated from a veterans’ association connected with the Đường 9 Front and was established in 2008.
The medal bears the inscription BẠN CHIẾN ĐẤU CHIẾN DỊCH LỊCH SỬ VIỆT NAM, which may be translated as “Comrades-in-Arms of the Historic Campaigns of Vietnam.” The upper bar displays the dates 1954, 1972 and 1975, referring respectively to Điện Biên Phủ, the 1972 air campaign, and the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
