Germany Third Reich. Deutsches Kreuz or German Cross, Gold version. REPRODUCTION manufactured by the company Rudolf Souval of Vienna.
The German Cross was created to meet the need for a higher-ranking war decoration after an increasing number of soldiers had been awarded both classes of the Iron Cross or the War Merit Cross during the course of the Second World War, but did not meet the requirements for the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross. Although it was not a class of the Iron Cross, it was ranked between the Iron Cross First Class and the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross.
This medal is a high-quality reproduction that once belonged to the Danish writer Sven Hassel and was manufactured in the 1980s.
