The collar insignia of the German Air Force, the Luftwaffe (Luftwaffe Schulterstücke), indicated the rank and branch of the wearer’s unit. Enlisted men’s and NCOs’ insignia usually had attached metal eagles, while officers’ insignia were typically embroidered in silver thread.
